Mad World

October 15, 2010

This gloomy song is from a very bizarre (yet awesome) movie named, “Donnie Darko”. This song named “Mad World”, by Micheal Andrews. And yes, the above graphic is from the movie. ;-)

All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places, worn out faces
Bright and early for the daily races
Going nowhere, going nowhere.
The tears are filling up their glasses
No expression, no expression
Hide my head I want to drown my sorrow
No tomorrow, no tomorrow

And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I’m dying are the best I’ve ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles its a very very
Mad World
Mad World

Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy birthday, happy birthday
And they feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen, sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me, no one knew me
Hello teacher tell me whats my lesson
Look right through me, look right through me

And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I’m dying are the best I’ve ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles its a very very
Mad World
Mad World
Enlarge your world
Mad World

  1. The words are very poignant and the song originally was a big hit in England for Tears For Fears (it was a top ten hit in the fall of ’82)featuring on their The Hurting studio album of 1983. I was there at the time, dear so would know this!!!

  2. Coolies! :-)
Don’t worry, I don’t doubt your expertise in 80’s music. I bow to you, Miss. :-)
