The Christmas Song

December 10, 2010

This song is often called the “The Chestnut Song” and also the full line of it’s verse, “Chestnuts Roasting On A Open Fire”. But it’s real name is “The Christmas Song”, by Nat King Cole. I love the jazzy sound of this holiday song. Enjoy! :-)

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire,
Jack Frost nipping on your nose,
Yuletide carols being sung by a choir,
And folks dressed up like Eskimos.

Everybody knows a turkey and some mistletoe,
Help to make the season bright.
Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow,
Will find it hard to sleep tonight.

They know that Santa’s on his way;
He’s loaded lots of toys and goodies on his sleigh.
And every mother’s child is going to spy,
To see if reindeer really know how to fly.

And so I’m offering this simple phrase,
To kids from one to ninety-two,
Although its been said many times, many ways,
Merry Christmas to you

  1. Again a song I really love :)
I have a Christmas CD by Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra and Nat King Cole.. It’s so brilliant! :D (And has this song on it among others)

  2. Coolies! :-D
I always had a love for the old crooners. Especially, Frank Sinatra!!!! I love “Ol’ Blue Eyes” and can listen to his music all day long… which I often do, in the Spring – Summer. :-D

But it’s just not Christmas without Crosby, Sinatra, and Cole… and Dean Martin too! ;-)
